Continue shoppingBastet was originally a fierce lioness warrior goddess of the sun worshipped throughout most of ancient Egypt; later she became the cat goddess familiar today.
Cats in ancient Egypt were revered, and cats belonging to royalty were known to have been dressed in golden jewelry and allowed to eat from the same plate as other members of the household. As protector of Lower Egypt, she was seen as defender of the king, and consequently of the sun god, Ra. Bastet was also a goddess of pregnancy and childbirth, possibly because of the fertility of the domestic cat. Sha was also depicted as a goddess of protection against contagious diseases and evil spirits.
Soft pastel cabochon cut Cat's Eye beryl, aquamarine and heliodor framed in warm gold adorn this handmade chain necklace. Individually hand shaped links are woven together in a classic cable link pattern, fastening with our signature Shepherd's Hook clasp. A decorative golden sphere set with sparkling blue zircons is an unexpected charm - a secret detail visible only from the back. The rich, warm gold makes this a necklace fit for a Goddess.
